It’s starting to become closer to everyone’s favorite time of the year, Christmas!! It’s even our favorite time of the year because that means we get to drive Santa around on the fire truck!! This year Santa will be in the North Bessemer VFD Fire District on December 20th. We will keep posting reminders getting closer to the date. We hope we get to see everyone!!! Please share this post so everyone in Penn Hills knows when Santa is coming!
Saturday Dec 12 and Sunday the 13th, Penn Hills fire companies participated in a Ventilation Practices class. Using the old Penn Hebron school, crews performed various types of ventilation techniques and trench cuts which are a way of stopping a fires progression in large commercial buildings.
Congratulations to the 2015 Line officers

Today, a few crews from 223 & Penn Hills No.7 VFC traveled out to the Washington county fire academy for the Dräger Live Fire Roadshow flashover simulator. Crews spent time in the flashover simulator learning to read and understand flashover conditions to try and prevent this from happening to us. Thanks to Dräger US Fire for hosting this great class!!
On Saturday, September 20th, The Rapp Funeral Home in Penn Hills held its Annual Penn Hills and Verona Firemen Appreciation Day. Volunteers and trucks from all the fire departments in Penn Hills and Verona came to the annual event, volunteers even provided a “man downed” situation for the visitors to see. People took bucket rides on Truck 7, while others climbed through apparatus and looked at the tools. We thank Bernadette from the funeral home for holding this event for us over the past year. Thank You!
On December 22, Santa came to visit the kids of the North Bessemer Volunteer Fire Department District. Firefighters brought Santa around on the fire truck for all the kids to see him.
