Saltsburg @ Frankstown Rd – MVA W/ Injuries

On Thursday afternoon, Rescue companies 222, 223 & 227 were alerted for a motor vehicle accident, vehicle vs. pat bus in Penn Hills. 223-L2 arrived on scene, one vehicle into a bus, 2 injuries on the bus, negative entrapment. The assignment was held with 223 for the fluid containment. Vehicles removed by tow, spill contained, all units returned in service.

205 Key Dr – MVA W/ Rollover & Entrapment

On Wednesday afternoon, Rescue companies 227, 223 & 222 were alerted for a single vehicle accident, one vehicle overturned with one patient still inside the vehicle. A medic on scene confirming one entrapped, vehicle on its side, and vehicle still running. RQ-227 on scene, crews started patient care and vehicle stabilization. EN-223-1 on scene, assisting with vehicle stabilization and patient removal. Crews from 227, 223 & 222 worked together to remove the patient from the vehicle, loading her into an awaiting ambulance.  Crews returned in service as they picked up. Great job by all on scene.

6200 Saltsburg Rd – MVA_Vehicle into a Structure

On Tuesday night, Stations 226 & 223 were alerted for a motor vehicle accident, one vehicle into a structure, unknown entrapment. Police on scene, reporting one vehicle into the structure, one patient still in the vehicle. EN-223-1 arrived on scene, patient extricated by EMS prior to our arrival, continuing 226  to spill containment. Vehicle removed by tow, spill contained, all units returned in service.

Frankstown @ Harvard – MVA W/ Entrapment

On Friday afternoon, Rescue Companies from 227, 222, 223 were alerted for a vehicle accident with entrapment at the intersection of Frankstown & Harvard. 224 Chief witnessed the accident and confirmed entrapment. Rescue 227 arrived on scene, Crews began to stabilize the vehicle. PH EMS stabilized the patient, then crews began to meticulously dismantle the drivers door. All companies worked together and the patient was removed from the vehicle and transported to a local trauma center.

208 Rodi Rd – Possible Commercial Structure Fire

On Saturday morning a PHPD unit was on patrol and noticed smoke in the dining room area of a closed business. Stations 227, 225, 222, 223, 226, 196 were alerted. Units arrived on scene and we’re able to gain access into the building. It was found that the night crew had forgot to shut off the deep fryers before they left the restaurant. The building was ventilated and units returned to service.

424 Bryant Dr – Residential Structure Fire

On Tuesday, Station 227, 226, 223, 222, 196 were alerted for smoke coming from a structure.  While units were en route, PHPD arrived on scene with smoke coming from the front door.  227EN arrived on scene, crew investigated the source of the smoke, and found a fire in the basement.  Crew brought  attack lines to the rear of the house and made a fast entry into the basement.  The fire was contained to the basement.  Crew from 223 & 222 ventilated and checked for extension.  The Allegheny County Fire Marshall is investigating the fire.  No injuries were reported.

326 Rodi Rd – MVA W/ Rollover & Entrapment

On Friday Afternoon, Stations 227, 223, 222 were alerted for a 2 vehicle accident with rollover in front of 326 Rodi Rd.  PHPD arrived on scene confirming entrapment.  Rescue 227 arrived on scene and crews were able to remove the driver of the vehicle.  The drivers of both vehicles were transported to local hospitals with non life threatening injuries.  PHPD is investigating the accident.

Landing Zone Detail – Friendship Park

On September 16th, Stations 223 & 224 were alerted for a Landing Zone Detail at Friendship Park in Penn Hills. Crews arrived on scene and set up a landing zone for Lifeflight. Crews assisted the medics with loading the patient. With the bird off the ground, Crews cleaned up and returned in service.

Flooded Basement – 200-Blk Elfort Dr

On September 15, Station 223 was alerted for a basement filling up with water, due to a major water main break. EN-223-2 arrived on scene, requesting Oakmont Water to the scene. Crews spent one hour on scene, assisting multiple homeowners with flooded basements and yards. Oakmont water arrived on scene and secured the line. Crews returned in service.
