Old William Penn Hwy – MVA W/ Entrapment

On Sunday evening Rescue Companies 227 and 223 were alerted for a two car accident with entrapment on Old William Penn Hwy at McCully Dr. PHPD arrived on scene and confirmed entrapment. 227RQ arrived on scene, the vehicle was stabilized and spreaders were used to quickly gain access to the patients. Both patients were transported to local trauma centers.

839 5th Street – Commercial Structure Fire

Just before 1am, Stations 224, 222 & 285 were alerted for a commercial structure fire, flames showing from the second floor. EN-224 arrived on scene, requesting the second alarm bringing EN-223 & TK-227 on the assignment. EN-223 crew assisted crews on scene with fire attack, TK-227 crew laddered the structure and provided roof ventilation.  Units had the fire under control in 20 minutes. overhaul was performed, all units returned in service as they picked up. NO injuries were reported. ACFA is investigating the cause of the fire.

Male Over 30ft Embankment – Hunter Garden Court Apts

Shortly after 2:00am on Wednesday morning Rescue Companies from 223, 222, 227 were alerted for an elderly male that fell 30ft over a hillside as a result of a foot pursuit with PHPD.  223SV & 227RQ arrived on scene and crews started assessing the situation.  Ropes & Repelling gear was used from 227RQ and 223SV was used as an anchor point.  A Medic from 222RQ navigated down the hill and started patient care. A 35ft ladder was utilized from 223EN and acted as a ramp for rescue works to safely remove the injured prisoner.  Crew operated on scene for about an hour.  Patient care was transferred to PHEMS, the patient was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

1500-Blk Hulton Rd – MVA W/ Entrapment

On Aug 29, Rescue Companies 223,222 & 227 were alerted for a 2 vehicle accident, possible entrapment in the 1500-Blk of Hulton Rd, in Penn Hills. 223 Chief on scene reporting negative entrapment, fluids and debris on the roadway, Requesting 223 service to the scene, canceling all rescue units. 223 Service crew contained the spill, the vehicles were removed by tow and all units returned in service.

6387 Saltsburg Rd – MVA W/ Injuries

On Sunday evening, Station 223 was alerted for a motor vehicle accident with injuries in the 6300-Blk of Saltsburg Rd in Penn Hills. EN-223-2 arrived on scene, two vehicle accident all occupants out of the vehicle, being attended to by EMS. Crews remained on scene and provided spill containment after the vehicles were removed by tow.

2000 Garden Dr – Commercial Structure Fire

At 01:48 in the morning, Stations 223, 226 & 227 were alerted for a possible commercial structure fire at 2000 Garden Dr in Penn Hills. ACES 911 receiving multiple reports of smoke and fire showing from an second story window. Chief 223 requesting next due company, bringing Station 222 to the call. EN-223-2 arrived on scene, heavy smoke showing, one crew taking the hydrant, while the other crew advancing 1.5′ line through the front door. TK-227 arrived on scene and laddered the structure.  Interior crew reporting minor kitchen fire, crews extinguished the fire, and ventilation and overhaul were performed. Crews remained on scene for approx. 2 hours. The scene was turned over the the ACFA and all units returned in service as they picked up. No injuries were reported.

12120 Frankstown Rd – Smoke In A Commercial Structure

Shortly after 6:00am, Stations 227, 223, 222, 226, 225, 196 were alerted for smoke, and a odor of something burning in the structure. 227EN arrived on scene and crews started investigating. Crews from 227 & 223 located hot spots in the ceiling area. 222EN stood by the hydrant. Crews pulled down a large section of the ceiling and found the wood beams smoldering. The fire was quickly brought under control. No injuries were reported. The ACFM is investigating the cause of the fire.

270-Blk Hazel Rd – Male Pinned Under Vehicle

On Monday afternoon, Station 227, 223, 222 were alerted for a vehicle pinned on top of a tow truck operator in the 270-Blk of Hazel Rd. 227RQ arrived on scene confirming one victim was still trapped behind the rear axle. Crews worked rigorously to safely stabilize the vehicle and the patient. The patient was transport to a local trauma center with non-life threatening injuries.
